Day 141 .... 01.10.13 .... Hopwas

Funnily enough having said that we thought we had finished the narrow bridges etc. we came upon this with a dual carriageway over it .

........................... looking back it makes one realise how many people scrape their tops !!! Happily we didn't ............... yet

A slightly disturbing feature of the landscape is the appearance of increasingly brown leaves and the arrival of winds to blow them off their summer perches.  Autumn is slowly making its mark ...............

The horse chestnuts beeing the first ot change.........

We are moored at a village called Hopwas, which, from the canal is very picturesque.  Walked around it and it is not so photogenic.  The river Tame runs below the canal and is surprisingly big as it flows towards the Trent.  In the photo, the canal is hidden by the lower trees and then above that, is a wooded hill with a somewhat un-nerving notice from the Ministry of Defence saying "Keep Out Firing Range." Not enjoying loud sounds of any nature, we admired the woods and stayed out.
Tomorrow ever southwards.
