Day 66 .... 17.07.13 .... Abingdon

The heatwave continues !!!! We decided to make an early start and get to Abingdon by lunch-time.  This we did and were rewarded with a good mooring ( the only one left since nobody seems to be moving in the heat )

The entrance into the town is very attractive and we moored opposite the church.

As we moored Three Men in a Boat passed !!!

Went for a wander around Abingdon Centre ....... didn't know what to expect. It bills itself as the oldest town on the Thames but I am not sure that it is the only claimant for this title.

Certainly ancient .... and am I wrong on thinking that this next pic could have been taken in France !!!

It is the Guild Hall in the Market Square ...... looks a bit French to me....
Spent the afternoon in the shade. Tomorrow off beyond Oxford and on to the canal to go northwards.
