Day 68 ....... 19.07.13 ..... Thrupp2
There has been another hold up. Someone has crashed into a Lift bridge and knocked down a wall. Again traffic stopped and so we decided to take to the bikes until the problem was solved (which to their credit it has been )
The Oxford Canal is extremely rural between Oxford and Banbury ...................
we cycled on and on ...............................
hoping to get to a pint and a cappuccino but nothing and so we turned around to go to a pub called the Rock of Gibraltar. A brief respite there and onwards. Now I would consider myself to be a prime candidate for a swift entrance into the river or canal on a bicycle after a couple of pints. Whilst leading the expedition what do I hear but ..............................
...... the sound of a gentle splashing and, I have to admit quite a good freestyle, which could only mean that Maggie had decided to cool off in the canal fully clothed. Unfortunately the bike was upside down and her telephone would appear to be non-water friendly.
However we got back to base and shall be starting off again tomorrow into the untamed wilds of Oxfordshire !!!!! Wanted to put a picture of a lift-bridge in which is peculiar to this canal but it did not want to download. Shall try again tomorrow.
