We arrived at Barlaston in time to cycle up to the next bridge where the Wedgwood factory is situated. Got there just before it closed but managed to have a look at some very good pieces. |
Obviously some of the main sights in Stoke are the bottle kilns and old factories where the Poterries gets its name from.
.................... there is quite tourist industry building up around these old factories. This one, a Bone and Flint Mill dates from 1857.
The locks through the spread out area that makes up Stoke-on-Trent are very deep. The front button got a good washing, which it needed !!
............. don't know why that picture has gone to the left. The locks are still single and very tight to get into. Keeps the concentration levels up
We have been lucky with the showers today and since I put on my oilskin did not get wet once during the day !! Moored at Westport Lake which is very picturesque and tomorrow will be heading through the Harecastle Tunnel whch, since it is single-way traffic, very low and one and a half miles long, promises to be interesting at the least !!
Finally an evening pic of the lake besides which we are moored. The lake being below the canal level makesa great backdrop. Excellent !!
Still signed in from Little Haywood so might as well comment. All looks very pretty, am so pleased you have picked such a good summer for this trip.
