Day119 .... 09.09.13 .... Barlaston

For the first morning, somewhat sadlyfor me , it was very Septemberish and Maggie managed to get a pic of the morning.  Chillly but later on warm.

In Stone we went past this lovely old pub with the inscriptions below .................

...............it was right beside the lock.  Interestingly on one of the doors it had a notice saying " Life saving equipment inside the pub during opening hours" ............ was not quite sure what kind of life saving equipment they were talking about!!!

....................... this is a really good example of what can be done with a Victorian Working House.  A very smart block of flats. Happily the pic below shows a brewey still in operation.

This was a simple and slightly ornate little lock we went through on the way to Barlaston, which is the home of the mighty Wedgwood Pottery Company.

..................... we are of course going through the home of most of the pottery companies tomorrow.  Stoke-on-Trent and then into the Harecastle Tunnel and further up North to the Anderton Lift.
