Day 125 .... 15.09.13 .... Barbridge Junction

We set off this morning with an extremely pessimistic weather forecast but, apart from very gusty winds and some rain, the journey across to the main Shropshire Canal was very pleasing, if not sunny!! We are wrapped up in clothes the way we started off in May!!
These steps at one of the locks looked superb and well-worn ..............................

................. the phone pic does not do justice to this setting.  The whole area was very undulating and extremely quiet and very beautiful even in the mizzle and wind.

.............................. we were back to the isolated bridges and woods. Amazing to think that we are still not very far from Liverpool and the Mersey and even stranger to think that the next county tothe left is Denbighshire !! Semed like going abroad growing up in Bournemouth !!

............ when we had got to Barbridge Junction we had the traditional winding down drink; by the time we left at 5.45 the weather had cheered up and the sun had made a belated and rather reluctant appearance.
Tomorrow we are probably going to catch a bus into Chester which is only 10 miles away.  We are on a 48 hour mooring at a convenient site near to bus stop.  Second time I shall have used my bus pass !!
