Day 85 ..... 05.08.13 .... nr.Braunston 2

Today we decided to stay put where we are moored and have a good look around the village of Braunston and to take the bikes around the area.  The walk up the hill to the village gives a good view of the Warwickshire countryside although Braunston is in Northants.

The actual village is typical Northants stone ....................

..................... even with the original Hovis sign on a wall which must be worth a bit nowadays.

This framework of the original thatched cottage was interesting .........

Went out into the surrounding area where there used to be a medieval village called Wolfhampcote.... only remains are a disused church and a series of ridge and furrows.....................

.... plenty of rather startled looking sheep though!!!

Great view back to Braunston village ............... then came across this great farmyard complete with Saddleback Pigs and piglets

.............these two were having a gentle snooze..... talk about happy as pigs in muck.....

This evening meeting Edward and Jackie in the local canal pub and then on tomorrow through the Braunston Tunnel and up the Leicester section of the Grand Canal
