Day 97 .... 17.08.13 .... Barrow-Upon-Soar

We found that this area is extremely flat with only the occasional lock and weir since we are upon the River Soar.  In commenting to a local boater that this was a lovely area, he replied, "you should see it when it rains properly!"
I can believe it  ........................

This weir by a lock, although smaller than the Thames makes one realise how well organised these rivers are with the locks beside them.......... I would not want to go down this ....... The flood warning is down to low amber today ...... amazing.........

.............on the way through this village, (Mountsorell), we came upon a modern and unexpected William and Mary style development. Complete with mooring area. This must be a wealthy area.

We have finally stopped at Barrow-upon-Soar for the night and have a reminder of Berkhampstead ...... in other words, a very testeronic male swan with 9 grown cygnets looking at its reflection in the black paint on the boat and seeing a rival.  Thank heavens I don't look in the mirror  ..... all too tiring !!
